The jazz DJ was a huge success. He had a great feel for the atmosphere and played a wide variety of jazz music. Not only was the music well-curated, but the overall organization was top-notch as well. They were quick and easy to work with. Kudos to Jazz Centrale and the DJ!

Traditional musical accompaniment
Are you looking for top-notch musical entertainment for your corporate event, wedding, or private party? Do you want to be able to chat with your guests without any hassle, while still having the chance to enjoy a good dance?
Look no further! Jazz Centrale’s vintage vinyl DJ is the ultimate entertainer for your event. With the best of jazz, soul, and funk from the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s—and, if desired, a foray into contemporary hip-hop, R&B, and house, all played from authentic vinyl records—our vinyl DJ has beena huge hit at events both large and small for years. Our DJ’s masterful turntable skills will be a spectacular highlight of your event or party.
Reasonable volume
One of the key features of our DJ is that he plays music at a reasonable volume. You won’t have to raise your voice to converse, because our DJ adjusts the volume perfectly to the situation—keeping it low when necessary, and turning it up when the situation calls for it and allows it.
The best music on pure vinyl
Our vinyl DJ performs solo, not alongside a saxophonist. That way, the music really shines—and his repertoire doesn’t need any additional accompaniment anyway.
You sometimes see a saxophonist playing along with a DJ, but that’s more of a role for anallround DJ. In that case, the DJ plays a simple beat or a specific mix that leaves room for solo work.
At Jazz Centrale, we believe that our DJ, with his wonderful collection of vinyl records , brings the ultimate atmosphere and character to the event.
The music our DJs bring on vinyl wasn’t downloaded from the internet in the blink of an eye, but is the result of years of research and avid collecting. Every LP or single has a story behind it.
But aside from the presentation and the story, what really matters is the sound. In that regard, apart from a few minor flaws, the quality of vinyl is still unquestionably the best.
How can you book our vinyl DJ?
The unique character of a performance by our jazz DJ can be incorporated into your wedding or event in a variety of ways.
- As a solo DJ who plays music for a few hours;
- As a DJ who, together with one of our jazz bands, puts together a program lasting several hours;
- As a spectacular finale to your party, after one of our jazz bands has performed;
1. Solo DJ performance
Of course, you can hire our jazz DJ as a standalone act. He’ll play the best jazz, funk, and soul from vinyl records for a few hours (usually three hours, but other durations are also possible, of course).
At your wedding, our jazz & soul DJ can keep the party going all night long. He’ll start off with some mellow, laid-back tunes in the background, but as the evening progresses, he’ll get you and your guests out on the dance floor , gradually turning up the volume while adjusting the playlist to create a lively, swinging party .
2. Live jazz band combined with our DJ
Would you like to round out a live performance by one of our jazz bands? Then, of course, the best option is to have our vinyl DJ provide the music before, after, and during the breaks . That way, the music and the atmosphere flow seamlessly together, without the mood being interrupted too much when the jazz band takes a short break. This allows us, for example, to put together a complete package lasting several hours, with the DJ perfectly complementing the jazz band.
3. Closing act after a live performance
A third popular package is hiring a live jazz band for a few hours—for example, during dinner—after which our vintage vinyl DJ takes over and lets your guests end the day dancing and swinging. This way, you get the best of both worlds: the wonderful atmosphere of a live band, as well as the energy and dynamism of the vinyl DJ.
Genres, style, and repertoire
Our jazz DJ draws primarily from the rich sounds of the '60s and '70s, which have a lot—if not everything—to offer in the realm of soul and funk. For variety and to round out the mix, we’ll also play jazz and Latin music from the '50s, with the occasional track from the '80s thrown in. In the later hours, forays into contemporary artists with hip-hop, R&B, and house are also an attractive option!
What is required?
There aren't many requirements for booking our vinyl DJ. All we need is a single power outlet.
We bring our own simple yet atmospheric lighting and, if needed, provide speakers, turntables, and other equipment, so you can focus on other things.
The space our jazz DJ needs is very modest. We can manage just fine with about 2 by 2 meters, but of course, be sure to leave room for a dance floor!
Where do we perform?
Our jazz DJs are available to perform anywhere in the Netherlands, Belgium, western Germany, and Luxembourg.

FAQs
Can you perform outdoors?
Absolutely! Nothing beats having a great jazz band at your garden party or wedding reception. Business receptions are also often held outdoors in the summer. We’re more than happy to perform outdoors. However, it’s important that we’re sheltered from the sun and wind, and that the temperature is comfortable—preferably around 20 degrees.
Is a stage necessary?
A stage isn’t strictly necessary. For larger groups (more than 100 people), we recommend providing a small raised platform. This way, the musicians are more visible to the audience. After all, a jazz band contributes not only musically but also visually to the atmosphere of the event—so it’s nice if we’re clearly visible.
What is the typical playing time?
We are usually hired for a performance lasting 2 to 4 hours. The ideal performance length depends in part on the band’s lineup. As a rule of thumb, the number of musicians should roughly correspond to the number of hours of music required. For a performance of about three hours, for example, a trio is an excellent choice. Do you need music for just a short time, such as a one-hour performance? Then a smaller lineup, like a duo, is often sufficient. If you need music for a really long time—say, six hours—it’s also a great idea to combine a live band for a few hours followed by our vinyl DJ. Of course, Kars is happy to work with you to figure out what best suits your event!
What is your dress code?
To stay true to the spirit of jazz, we typically perform in a stylish black suit with a white shirt and a black tie or bow tie. It’s a nod to the elegant 1950s—the era when jazz developed its iconic look. Even if you and your guests opt for a more casual dress code, our classic style ensures a chic atmosphere. After all, the musicians play a special role during your event and should certainly stand out a bit. Of course, we’re happy to tailor our attire to your preferences—whether you prefer formal, festive, or casual.
Where are you from?
The professional musicians of Jazz Centrale live throughout the country, which allows us to perform flexibly throughout the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as beyond. That’s why we can also perform in North Rhine-Westphalia, Luxembourg, and northern France. Travel costs remain relatively low and have only a minor impact on the rate. After all, musicians are used to traveling. This way, you can enjoy top-quality live jazz music, wherever you are!
